Job Outlines
Aupairs & Nannies International Ltd places domestic staff in the following roles:
BUTLER/VALET/HOUSEMAN
Butlers need to possess the key qualities of discretion, impeccable service skills, meticulous personal standards and integrity. Ideally, we seek Butlers who have worked in a private household. Head Butlers will often be required to take overall responsibility for other staff, inventories, hospitality arrangements, security, driving and a plethora of other duties. To act in the capacity of Valet, it is necessary to be able to care for all aspects of a wardrobe, including packing and unpacking. A Houseman would be expected to be extremely flexible and be prepared to undertake cleaning duties, perhaps some care of pets, driving and cooking. In formal households it is sometimes possible to rise through the hierarchy from Houseman or Valet or Under Butler to Butler.
HOUSEHOLD MANAGER
A Household Manager has considerable responsibilities; to supervise multiple properties, including overseas locations, with duties covering the daily management of staff appointments and training, hospitality arrangements, travel itineraries, household budgeting, stock and inventory control, security and an overview of all domestic arrangements. Languages, the appropriate track record and impeccable references are essential.
GARDENERS
We have a wide range of positions from Under Gardener, with basic skills and experience, to Head Gardeners and Estate Managers, with a high level of knowledge, training and horticultural expertise and with the ability to manage large acreages, teams of staff and budgets. Experience of a private environment is preferable.
COUPLES
There is no end to the variety of combinations of skills offered by Couples. Good Gardeners and Housekeeper/ Cooks are always in demand, as are Butler/ Drivers with Housekeepers. A good track record is invaluable, as are solid references. Couples must consider the overall 'package' of a job situation, where salary and accommodation are concerned.
HOUSEKEEPERS
A good Housekeeper is always in demand. The preparation of family meals and occasional dinner parties is a huge bonus, as is a willingness to assist with children, but all must be willing to be 'hands on' with a positive and professional attitude. The care of expensive furniture, antiques or fine clothing is often needed. Good references confirming competence and capabilities are required.
DAILY CLEANERS
Only Cleaners with a proven track record and verified references can be placed. Good English is an essential requirement, and previous private household experience is preferred. Full time and part time positions can be filled.
CHAUFFUERS
Chauffeurs can be placed in both private and corporate environments and they must have good proven track records. They should preferably have a good knowledge of the London street system, as many of the jobs available require driving in Central London. Flexibility is essential, as is the willingness to work long hours.
CHEFS/COOKS
We specialize in placing Chefs and Cooks in private households and do not service the commercial catering industries. The positions can be straightforward autonomous control of the kitchen, or can include other duties, such as some housekeeping, management of other staff and butlering, so flexibility is an issue. Knowledge, flair and a wide range of styles are all advantageous.
NANNIES/MOTHERS HELPS/MATERNITY NURSES
Good qualified and experienced Nannies are constantly in demand. We place Nannies in the UK and Overseas in daily and live in positions; excellent references and a police check are required and being a confident driver is becoming increasingly necessary.
Mothers Helps have less experience and will work alongside the Mother and assist with light housekeeping duties. Good references also required.
Maternity Nurses often come from a nursing or midwifery background and will assist the Mother with her newborn baby for shorter, temporary placements. An inexhaustible source of knowledge and advice, she will usually work for six days, 24 hours per day, followed by one full day off.
We also place Aupairs and provide Criminal Record Bureau Checked Babysitters.
